WoW Enchanting Guide: Getting Started
You need to find a trainer to get your apprenticeship. This would be easy to do and many trainers are available in various locales in bigger cities. After getting a trainer, you would need to pick a secondary profession. The choices are really much open. Just take note that you wouldn’t have to do any gathering for this profession, so there is no need to select a secondary profession that deals with gathering, for example: mining.
Next thing you need is an item to enchant and also the recipe for enchanting it. Disenchanting an item will destroy it so be very careful when trying to decide to disenchant one. There’s no turning back, so disenchant wisely.

Disenchanting an item may be necessary at times so you can collect the special dusts and poweders that you need. To do this, open your spellbook and select disenchant. Move your mouse over the item that you want to disenchant. Completing disenchantment may take you a few minutes and, again, you will not be able to undo the process once it starts.
