What Is There To Do In Costa Brava?
There are two things that the majority of holiday makers look out for before reaching their holiday destination; the area’s best bars and the best beaches.
Luckily for anyone traveling to Spain’s ‘Wild Coast’, I will now take you through my quick guide to the Costa Brava’s best beaches. This guide should give you a good idea of which beaches to try.
For those looking to get away from the more touristy beaches, try Gandia. Gandia is an enormous beach which is very popular amongst the locals. It’s a beautiful place to watch the fine white sands stretch off into the distance. Although it may be lacking in tourists, the surrounding area still provides an array of fantastic cafes and restaurants which can act as a brief shelter from the scorching sun.
The smaller beach of Aigua Blava is a more much quiet and tranquil affair. Away from the bars and clubs, the clean waters and the golden sands offer visitors the perfect haven in which to forget about the stresses of everyday life. This beach is a must for anyone looking for some rest and relaxation.
Not every oasis in the Costa Brava is as easy to find though, but that’s half the fun right? A short hike across a cliff top leads to the little cove of Tamariu. Slightly larger than Aigua Blava, Tamariu still acts a small haven of clean sand and clear waters. However, it’s not completely isolated, as the nearby promenade is lined with friendly restaurants and quaint boutiques. The promenade is a great place to take a little lunchtime stroll, especially for those, who like me, can become easily bored on the beach.
The slightly larger beach of Llafranc and the nearby port are set in a picturesque surrounding and while it still maintains the quiet and cosy element of the previous two beaches, there’s plenty of space for children to play. It’s the perfect place to top up the tan as the sun always seems to be beaming down on Llafranc. As with most Costa Brava beaches there are nearby amenities which boast fine restaurants to grab some seafood after a hard day’s tanning and local cocktail bars to provide the night’s entertainment.
The beaches listed here are just a few of the many fantastic beaches on Spain’s Costa Brava. This coast is an excellent place for a summer holiday.
