Everything leads up to my favorite occasions of the year: Penn State football games.
There are 7 days annually that i absolutely adore. Those would be the seven home games that Penn State plays football in State College, Pa. I’ve been going to these types of games since I was attending college, and its simply been the program for me and my family for many years. I try not to skip a game if possible.
Going to a game in Happy Valley is actually unique. The environment is as good as it will get in college football. State College, Pa is actually in the actual center of the state of Pennsylvania, and as you come down into town, this feels like everybody in the state is actually coming next to you. Luckily, we now have fellow tailgaters having a portable satellite television dish and Televisions to ensure that we are able to watch all of the afternoon college football plays (especially Big 10 games) whilst preparing for the large game.
The main part of tailgating is actually socializing with close friends, but meals preparation and consumption is essential as well. We fire up the grill early and ensure that it stays going all day. Generally several types of meat get tossed on, personally I like any type of red meat to go with my personal adult drink during tailgating. Remember to have ample ice and mixers.
Tailgating is actually fun, but I always remind everyone that the key reason we’re there is for the game. I love to be within Beaver Stadium 20 minutes before kick-off. This enables me to soak in all the pre-game festivities, such as the teams running out on the field, Joe Paterno’s entrance, and the incredible sound of 100,000 fans screaming “Let’s Go….Penn State”.
