Posted in Adventure Sports

If you are always eager to feel the adrenaline rush in your veins, and want to live life on the edge, kiteboarding is your best bet. Kiteboarding is definitely one of the most exciting sporting activities known to man, or a woman. Kiteboarding as a sport offers a perfect amalgam of fun, thrill and speed and is already a popular activity in many parts of the world. But before you can enjoy your sport, you will need to have the correct kiteboarding gear.

For those who are new to the thrills that it offers, kiteboarding is an extreme sport using powerful, controllable kites to propel riders on in-line skates, off-road skates or mountain boards at speeds up to 60 mph across parking lots, desert dry lakes, grassy fields and sandy beaches. Kiteboarding originated in the Eastern Coast of USA in 1990 when sport kite enthusiasts began kite skating, or Rollerkiting, at various local festivals there. In those early days, kite skaters were mostly to be found in large parking lots practicing their craft. Back then, kite skaters primarily used Rollerblades and four-line controllable kites that were built of parafoil.

But now this sport’s popularity is not limited to just the US, it has spread to other parts of the world as well. But most kite boarders you will come across even today are American citizens or those who live in that country. Tremendous improvements have been made in the field of kiteboarding in recent years, especially in kiteboarding gear, and naturally because of this, followers and lovers of the sport are loving it.

Kiteboarding saw a dip in its popularity when kite buggy racing first arrived. Nonetheless, it came back stronger than ever in 1992, thanks to the pioneering efforts of Bob Childs who built a pair of off-road in-line skates using Rollerblade boots and scooter wheels, which reignited the general interest in kiteboarding again. Recently, ATB skateboard riders have joined the league of kite skaters. Kite Skateboarding daredevils use mountain-boards to zip around on multi-terrain surfaces, usually at a lesser speed than Kite Skaters.

Today, quality kiteboarding gear is not very hard to find – actually you can get them at both your local sports shop and the Internet. Do not forget to insist on the best quality gear that you can afford in order to ensure maximum safety. Like every other sport, performance depends substantially on the quality of the equipment that you are using. Just do ensure that your equipment can indeed keep you safe because this is more important. And because of this, you need more information about the kite boards, and you also need to know where to get them.
