The Resort Of Caleta De Fuste, Fuerteventura .
Boasting mile upon mile of fantastic beaches, Fuerteventura is the second biggest of the seven islands that make up the Canaries. Basking in over 3000 hours every year of sunshine, Fuerteventura has become more popular with tourists of all ages.
There are 2 main English tourist resorts on the island. The resort of Corralejo can be found in the North, and Caleta de Fuste is situated on the East coast, only fifteen minutes from the airport. Although Caleta de Fuste (or El Castillo as it is sometimes known) is a quieter resort than Corralejo there is still much to do.
There are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from with a variety of cuisines including Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Portuguese, English and of course the traditional Spanish Tapas bars. There are 2 or 3 nightclubs to choose from if you fancy dancing into the small hours and there are plenty of bars which stay open until 2 or 3am.
A variety of water sports can be found down by the man made, horse shoe shaped beach, and boat trips are available down at the harbour. Children are also able to feed the fish on the infamous ‘floating shop’!
Children are very well catered for in Caleta de Fuste, and you will find numerous playgrounds and parks dotted around as well as trampolines, bowling, archery, tennis and mini golf to keep them occupied.
The Montecastillo Centre, which is situated on Chipmonk Mountain, hosts a weekly market where many a good bargain can be found.
The nearby Atlantico Shopping Centre, which is situated at the end of the beach walk, provides a large supermarket, clothes shops, boutiques, jewellery shops, restaurants and bars and live entertainment at certain times of the year. There is also a McDonalds, Bowling Alley and Burger King situated in the centre.
Overall, Caleta de Fuste has something for both families and couples, and is a great base in which to explore the beautiful island as the majority of tourists attractions are located less than 1 hour’s drive away.
