Sun Sea And Fun On Lanzarote´s Best Beaches This Summer

Posted in Travel

Searching for a holiday somewhere which boasts lots of great beaches to explore? Then take a closer look at Lanzarote, the fourth biggest link in the Canary Islands chain and home to some of Spain´s most superlative stretches of sand.

It takes just four hours to reach the island from the UK and flights to Lanzarote are available from as little as €100 all year round, with low cost carriers such as Ryanair, Monarch and easyJet all offering great value returns.

Lanzarote car hire is cheap too, with rental rates starting from as little as €15 per day. All of which makes it possible to enjoy a holiday here without breaking the bank.

Lanzarote boasts over 100 beaches so there are loads to explore and the bulk of them are comprised of golden sand rather than the black grains you get elsewhere in the Canaries. Many of the finest of these beaches can be found in and around the main resorts on the island.

Puerto del Carmen for example is home to Playa Grande and Playa Chica, both of which are hugely popular with tourists. Whilst Costa Teguise boasts no less than five great beaches to explore such as Playa Cucharas and Playa Bastian.

However if you are in search of the real thing you´ll need to explore a little further afield as all of these playas are man made using sand imported from the Sahara. So head instead for the north where holidaymakers and locals alike flock to the picturesque seaside village of Arrieta. The village is a huge favourite with both locals and holidaymakers alike as is the stunning beach at Playa La Garita. Arrieta is largely untouched by tourist development and there are just a couple of good value restaurants by the beach. Close by lies the huge bay at Famara which is many locals choice as the best beach on the whole island.

As well as great beaches there are plenty of fascinating attractions to explore too, such as the Timanafaya National Park and the Cesar Manrique Foundation. All of which are easy to reach by car as the island is so small.

Accommodation in Lanzarote is also in plentiful supply and you will find that there are loads of Lanzarote hotels, villas and apartments to stay in. For your information the Lanzarote Guidebook holiday web site features a wide selection of accommodation and visitors can also download a copy of their comprehensive guidebook to the island for free.

And if you love the islands that much an are really tempted, you can even view a wide range of villas and apartments along with a selection of property for sale from Lanzarote estate agents.
