Posted in Beach Vacations

If you are an experienced scuba diver, then you should know right much about the different types of BCD scuba devices available and the benefits of each. If scuba diving is something new for you, then you should make it a point to learn as much as you can about these devices. BCD stands for “buoyancy control device” and they help you to control the amount of buoyancy you experience during a dive. All of these devices are designed with a harness where you can attach the air tank. They also have straps and lots of pockets that can hold all the necessary diving gear to help keep you safe.

Since there are so many different styles to choose from you shouldn’t have a problem finding one that is perfect for you. Many of these devices are very simple and are very similar to the average life jacket with added features of course. Others are more complex and have a lot of features available. There are two main styles of BCD scuba devices. One is called the vest and it hooks in the front and the sides are designed with bladders that are used for holding gear. The other is the wing style and it is designed with “balloons” on the sides and down the back of the device. These are used to store other diving gear that you may need and they have buckles located in the front to secure the device around you.

There are several important features that make a BCD scuba device needs to be considered a good one. Look for high quality material that will last when used regularly. When you wear the device the straps should never rub your body or cause chafing. It is very important that the design has the pressure release value in a place that you can reach it easily and that it has quick release straps that allow for quick adjustments when needed. You don’t want to lose any of your gear while you are diving so the pockets or bladders should be help together with either zippers or strong Velcro.

You will choose the type of BCD scuba device much like you would a life jacket by choosing the lift capacity that best suits your needs. A good lift capacity rating is very important and you should pay attention to this factor before purchasing your device. Make sure the device fits correctly by being snug but not uncomfortably tight. You don’t want it moving around while you are diving but to tight for comfort can also cause problems. BCD scuba devices come in a wide variety of prices so you shouldn’t have a lot of problems finding the one that suites both your needs and price range.
