This wax works is known all over the world but most of them are far away like in Hong Kong, New York or Hollywood. But now, the German capital Berlin also owns a Madame Tussaud’s which is located Unter den Linden 74. Here you can see wax figures of many international celebrities divided into the categories TV stars, Hollywood stars, cultural personalities, music stars, sport stars and politics and religious figures.
The wax works in Berlin has only been in existence since 2008 but the wax works in England was first opened in 1835.
After the death of Madame Tussaud in 1850 her nephew Joseph Randall took care of the museum.
1971 another one opened in Amsterdam before another one was opened in America, in Las Vegas. Only one year after this, there were more expositions in New York and Hong Kong and finally there was another one in Shanghai in 2006. In Washington DC there was a museum opened in 2007 which was dedicated to American politics and presidents. 2008 Madame Tussaud’s finally came to Germany opening the wax work in Berlin.
The exhibition is open every day of the whole year. It starts at 10am and your last chance to get in is at 6pm.
The figures you can see are very close to their original and you can easily mistake them for the real thing. But a lot of work goes in to making them look like that: It takes more than 800 hours to creat a wax work figure. Real hair is used for the hair of the figure and for they eyes acryl glass is used. This is chosen for each individual figure, so that it is as close as possible to the original eye colour.
