Seville’s Temple
The Catedral of Saint Mary of the See is really a fantastic monument and another gem of this fabulous city. It’s the biggest gothic cathedral in the world and it the fourth biggest Christian temple in the world due to its size.
As well as being important because of its huge size, it’s also beautiful because of its doors, which are fully decorated from top to bottom with peculiar figures of angels. After you’ve seen it for the first time, there’s no doubt why UNESCO declared it to be a site of World Heritage.
As well as being, undoubtedly, a very beautiful place it is also a place with a lot of history and with many things to visit. Despite its autonomy, the Giralda also acts as a tower as well as a belfry of the Cathedral, and was named a site of World Heritage in 1987.
The ‘Patio de los Naranjos’ (the Patio of the Orange Trees) is an area which acts as an inside patio to the Catedral, although it was originally the patio of ablutions of the Almohad mosque.
One of the things which makes this place special is that around the cathedral there is a huge pedestrianised street which allows you to walk around the cathedral for hours, in awe at its beauty without having to be overwhelmed by other tourists or the annoying noises from cars.
This part of the city also holds a mystery and gives off a romantic atmosphere and it’s definitely a place you’ll want to go with your partner. I would recommend you taking the journey in around the cathedral on a carriage.
Inside it’s very pretty and is full of interesting things to see, however, I think that the external elements which surrounded the cathedral are those that make it so special.
It’s definitely one of the most important tourist attractions, which you shouldn’t miss. And it’s extremely near other relevant tourist attractions in the city, so you can easily walk to the next attraction after you’ve visited it, while you enjoy the city’s architecture.
