Quick And Easy Arts And Crafts Ideas For Kids!

Posted in Crafts

Yes, arts and crafts has a billion and one functions, It can be a means of creating stunning decorations for your home, some gorgeous jewelry for that new dress, a means of saving your precious memories through the art of scrapbooking and that is just to mention a few of the thousands available arts and crafts ideas. My personal favourite useful thing about craft, is the amazing amount of possibilities it leaves open for children. Parents, teachers and babysitters have all discovered the wonderful world of arts and crafts. It is a great way of keeping children entertained in a safe and educational environment where they get to play with their imagination while creating stunning new toys that will keep them occupied for hours on end. It can even be used to introduce children to new areas in life, or to teach them valuable lessons that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. As an example, if you wish to teach your children about road safety, why not let them make road safety signs as a fun activity in which they have the opportunity to learn about and interact with some these road safety signs. You could even do something as simple as making sock puppets to put on a little show in which a valuable life message is portrayed. Yes the possibilities are endless and promises hours of fun.

Here is a little starter project that is not only very easy, cost effective and loads of fun, but will prove to be one of your favourite keepsakes. This project doesn’t take too much time and can be used to make various other projects and which can be kept as a little something from which the whole family will benefit from for years. It makes great father’s day and mother’s day gifts, gifts for grandparents or even the centre of attention for an upcoming special event. More on that later though, as first lets have a look at this terrific little idea.

Photo Mosaic

Photo mosaic is a means for the child to create and arts and crafts project that could turn into a lasting memory. It can be kept on its own, perhaps as a framed photo, or eventually it could become a part of a bigger photo mosaic scrapbook to preserve some of the child’s most fondest memories.

So, what do you need?:

A piece of paper on which the photo mosaic will be created. Remember that the sturduer the paper, the longer it will be preserved. Have a look around the house for some cardboard boxes, the inside of cereal boxes or any other form of trash paper that was making its way to the dustbin in anycase.
Acid free glue. The reason you use acid free glue is simply because the normal glues tend to destroy or harm the paper on which paste, making it unable to survive for very long periods of time.
Old photo’s, pictures of a person, persons and a couple of cut out pictures or words cut out from magazines that all fit the theme of your project.

What to do?:

Help your young one to cut out the photo’s and pictures until you have enough to cover your entire page. Try to plan ahead as much as possible concerning the layout etc. as this will make the process a lot easier.
Paste all the cut outs into the pattern that you have decided on the piece of paper or background.
If you want to, you can add a blank piece of paper on the artwork somewhere. On this blank piece of paper your young one can write his name, perhaps a little discription or anything else to give it that super special personal touch.
Using whatever material you want, paste a border unto this project to finish it of.

Well, give yourself a pat on the back as you just completed a very special little arts and crafts project with your young ones. It is a fantastically simple way of creating loving memories. This new work of art can be framed so you can hang it in your office, perhaps in the child’s bedroom or as a gift for someone that will truly appreciate the meaning behind this. It could be a first piece or an additional piece of a scrapbook which you made especially for the child. My personal favourite, it can be the main attraction for you family ‘time machine’. A ‘time machine’ is a simple idea consisting of a little glass jar or shoe box or whatever container you find handy, which is filled with little family goodies such as photo’s, perhaps a toy, a project like the one you just comepleted or any number things. This container is than hidden away in the attic, perhaps locked away in the attic etc. until a few years later on a special occasion you take it out so the entire family can share in the joys and warm memories.

This is but one arts idea of thousands! You can have fun with absolutely anything if you really put your mind to it. If you are looking for more ideas like this, visit www.sublimecraft.com
