Learn Painting Easily on Your Own
It’s common to come across folks who wish they started with painting for beginners. The truth though is that lots of people don’t really come close to making things happen. For some, the reason for not pushing through is the belief that they lack natural talent. Although innately talented individuals do have an edge, you don’t need to be born under the right star to become a great painter. You really just need ardor, perseverance and an excellent teacher.
For modern learners, the way to becoming excellent painters isn’t very different from before. The best way to learn is still to learn from someone who knows painting extremely well. It is however almost unheard of to apply for apprenticeships. In most cases, you can learn to paint if you sign up for formal painting courses in an art school.
Keep in mind though that many learners don’t do very well in formal classes or courses. Students for example who are required to paint in groups with fellow students may be driven away by their inability to deal with public scrutiny. This however is not the only looming concern. There is also the issue of expensive fees. If it’s not about being publicly criticized, the reasons for leaving class might have something to do with the cost of learning to paint.
The great news is that modern tools are now available to give students the chance to learn painting outside of formal classes and at their own pace. These tools come in the form of guides, manuals or e-books that can be obtained online. There are also some websites that provide free tips. Most beginners however will learn better with a properly structured manual. A number of great guides don’t cost a fortune and don’t even cost half as much as formal classes.
Don’t just choose any guide though. Before you buy, assess your options first. Moreover, you also need to evaluate your skill level. Are you an absolute beginner who has never even held a brush or do you have some background in painting? You will find it easier to pick the best guide when you’ve answered this question.
For absolute starters, there are some general ideas that should be tackled by a learn how to paint guide. These include a variety of topics such as canvas preparation; the use of other painting surfaces; the use of brushes and alternative painting tools; and the proper care and maintenance of brushes.
For more advanced painters, guides should provide some input into which colors to use and which ones to avoid. Also, sections on proper paint thinning, perspective, picture composition, lighting and brush techniques need to be provided. For those who have progressed beyond watercolors, it makes sense to look for chapters on how to work with oil and pastel.
There are no real restrictions on who can learn art. Even if you and everyone else think you have no talent, you can become a true artist. What you really need to do first is to look for the right resources to work with.
