Learn How To Get Up On A Wakeboard

Posted in Sports

The trick in getting up on a wakeboard is being in rhythm with the boat’s movement. But it is tricky when one tries to get on to a wakeboard for the first time as it has to be in sync with the boat’s movement. Patience in getting up on it and the right timing is very crucial. New wake boarders need to pay careful attention to this detail. Therefore, new wakeboarding enthusiasts should read the few pointers below. When one begins, it is important that they make sure their feet are tightly secured to the wakeboard. Remember not to pull at the handle. It needs to be held onto so that you stay connected to the boat.

As a beginner, once the above is done, you need to lie back into the water and wait for the boat to get into motion. This is the first and most important step when one starts to learn. The wakeboard is now parallel to the rear of the speed boat. While you are lying in the water, your toes are pointed up which means the wakeboard is not flat on the surface of the water but resting on its edge, as you wait for the action to begin.

Just lie there and relax. As the boat begins moving, allow the boat to carry you over the waters. The boat’s gentle pull will bring your body from the water onto the wakeboard so that you are now no longer in the water but squatting on the wakeboard with your toes resting firmly on the wakeboard. At this point it is important that you understand the tempo of the boat and the water and balance your body with its movement. Once you are comfortable with the movement, gently rise up. Now you need to balance your body with the tempo and the movement of the boat. Once you have gained confidence, you can straighten yourself in a manner in which you turn your hip in a manner which will bring one foot ahead of the other and tilt the wakeboard in a position which is parallel to the rear of the boat.

When you rise make sure that you are able to turn your hip in a manner which will cause the wakeboard to get into a straight line, directly in sync with the boat than its earlier position. Now you are in the standing position. In this stance you have one foot in front of the other. The rope handle you are holding should be resting at your hip.

Now as you hold the rope it should be resting at your hip as you move ahead.
