Learn Guitar – How To Choose the Type of Guitar Best Suited to the Songs You Want to Play

Posted in Performing Arts

You may not realise it however, the kind of guitar you can purchase is influenced by the kind of music you want to play and whether or not you intend to perform before an audience or not. It’s one thing you have to take into consideration while you teach yourself to play guitar.

If you want to play blues, rock or pop songs then you’ll need a steel string guitar. Once you first start playing steel strings can be sore on your fingers. Once you develop callouses this pain will disappear. Steel strings are great for every little thing; from strumming a favorite acoustic rock songs to plucking delicate blues solos steel strings guitars will do the job. Also, when you not actually know what you are occupied with just yet it is smarter to begin playing on a steel string guitar.

If on the other hand you will have made up your mind to play classical and Spanish guitar music then you’ll need a nylon string guitar. Nylon strings are loads softer on you fingers than metal strings.

The massive disadvantage is that they don’t seem to be excellent for strumming so the range of songs they can play is limited. It is because only the 3 highest strings on the guitar are nylon. The lowest strings are wound steel. This makes a very uneven sound when all of the strings are strummed all together.
