La Puerta De Brandemburgo: The Brandenburg Gate
The Brandenburg Gate (La Puerta De Brandemburgo in Spanish) was built in 1788 and it was one of the 18 gates of the roman wall that was located in Berlin, there for it is not an “arch de triumph” but an access to the city.
It is twenty six meters tall, sixty five meters wide and eleven meters long. Its columns have almost two meters of diameter. On top of the gate rises a four meter high sculpture called cuadriga which is a roman carriage pulled by four horses and it symbolizes victory.
On the inside it has five walking areas which are covered by relieves that represent Hercules, Mars and the goddess Minerva.
It is the most representative symbol of Berlin and like the city it has lived many tragic battles like when Napoleon took Berlin the cuadriga of the brandemburgo gate was sent to Paris as a war price, although it was recovered later. During Second World War it was almost destroyed

The Brandenburg Gate is located downtown Berlin at the Paris square. To arrive there you must take the “Strassenbahn” which is the tramway of the city, get out on the “unter den linden” station and you will be able to see it right away.
