Kids Soccer Drills: Learn How To Prevent Coaching Mistakes
In Kids Soccer Drills, it’s a known fact that the coach’s faults bring the teams to a point, from where it’s near impossible to get back on to the winning track. Yes, it’s a fact. Most of you might wonder as to what can be so big that puts the team on a loosing streak. Well, let it be known that there are many.
You will have to work very watchfully and advantageously in designing soccer drills for kids. Make it a point to know and value psychology of the kids. Exchange words with them discussing things from their point of view. But sadly, most coaches are not ready to adapt to this. They do not appreciate the difference between coaching the kids and coaching mature players.
Here you go; main errors that coaches make that result in a team’s downfall.
1. Several coaches don’t take their jobs seriously. They do not plan the sessions, prepare the drills, or bother about reaching the field in time. All these are not only bad traits but put off the kids too. You cannot be non-serious when the kids take soccer so seriously. Youth soccer drills should be pre-planned. If you need certain equipment to carry out the drills, arrange it before hand.
Don’t be late. Don’t be the one to reach the field later than the kids. Well in fact, grace the filed with your presence when kids reach. This will also give you some time to rehearse the drills or arrange for things.
2. When the coaches deliver the instructions before the kids soccer drills, they tend to take a lot of time. Have you ever considered how bad that can be? Know that kids come to the field to play and not listen to boring speeches. Always speak for less amount of time. Use this talk to motivate the kids and increase their confidence.
Also, do not interrupt the kids when they are playing. If you have observed anything that needs to be corrected, note it and discuss it after the drill. Also, stay out of the field when the kids are practicing.
3. Some coaches use foul language with the young players. In soccer drills for youth, both the behaviors are unacceptable. It is bad to display weak behaviour on the soccer field. It is Ok if kids make mistakes. Do not forget that they are children. You do not need to take this to heart and get harsh with the players.
If you do, understand that you not only make the kids lose interest in the sport but also invite disciplinary action. Soccer is about mind games. When you help the kids know the meaning of it, they will love the game.
