Keep The Children Amused With These Craft Suggestions
What parent has not heard the saying, “I’m bored,” be said by their child? Well children’s crafts will be the solution. Give craft materials to the kids and boredom will be consigned to history. Here are some ideas for kids crafts.
Must have materials for kids crafts include crayons, paper, safe scissors and glue. Paper for kid crafts can be construction paper, plain printer paper, cardstock of various colors, and many other options. Even old magazines and junk mail can make interesting art activity. Crayons are good for younger kids, but the craft shops now have a wide choice of products, such as watercolor pencils, washable dry-erase markers and gel pens. Kid crafts supplies can run into money, but even on a low budget there are countless feasible options.
Other materials that kids can craft with include recycled junkand found objects. By recycled junk, I mean plastic containers, empty cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, cardboard from packaging, and even tin cans. If you permit kids to work with tin cans, however, you must make sure the open edge of the can doesn’t have any sharp edges. If they do, you need to file these down or squeeze them flat with a pair of pliers.
Found objects include leaves, twigs, rocks, and other natural items a kid might find. Perhaps there is farm with sheep close to your home. If so, wool scraps can sometimes be found stuck to the barbed wire fences. Any or all of these items can be used in kidcrafts.
One of the most fun and popular children’s crafts is collage making. Kids a collage. Use heavy weight paper for the background, and then let the creative juices flow! For an additional challenge, a collage can be built around a theme like the family or animals. Old magazines can be searched for just the right photos, which can be cut out and glued to the background. An older child might wish to cut out details from magazine photosand reorganize them in new and interesting ways. They might cut out interesting words and headlines and include them too.
Younger children’s crafts can include collages made of pasted down pasta, beans, popsicle sticks, leaves, and many other materials. Don’t forget about glitter, too. If the budget allows only a few children’s craft splurges, remember that kids of all ages, especially girls, really enjoy creating artwork that includes glitter.
But whether your kids are boys or girls, young or older, suggest some children’s crafts the next time your kids are bored!
And how about a craft for mom? Face painting makes a great hobby and kids just love wearing a face painting design. Wouldn’t it be great to send the kids off to a party with a beautifully painted face. And of course there is Halloween. Face painting and Halloween really go together.
