Health Check Costa Rica

The times of emergency medical airlifts from Guanacaste to San Jose for top hospital treatment will soon be gone. Sources in the hospital have informed Health Check Costa Rica the Hospice Cima project in Liberia Guanacaste plans to open their doors in February 2012. Construction of the first part of the hospital project is all but complete and the surgery is in the process of moving in clobber for a February opening. The surgery will be beginning with only around 10 beds but will be the first Joint Commission World Hospital to open their doors in Guanacaste which is a region known typically for spotless beaches, and a tourism dependent economy. Consequences of this could reverberate across the area as Guanacaste starts the change from an essentially traveller oriented economy to a broader based retirement and full time home destination.

The project includes a new CIMA Hospital, a building with medical practice offices, a commercial section with trattorias and an apartment hotel building in particular targeting retirees and Medical Travel patients. The hospice, as well as the other buildings, would be found next to the Do-it Center in the canton of Carrillo, on the road between Liberia Global Airport and the region’s beach resort areas, and intentionally near to the world Airport that has become the center of Guanacaste’s fantastic growth as a tourist destination in the last ten years. This non-public infirmary not only would serve the local people that reside in Guanacaste but the growing foreign clientele seeking high-quality care.”The number of patients may change because of the an undeniable fact that these facilities may not only serve patients from around the province, but also may serve foreigners visiting for Medical Travel facilitator purposes.

Guanacaste has undergone major transformations in recent years as the Governing body of Costa Rica has cleverly been focusing on major infrastructure projects including road strategies and telecommunication sub-structure each of which have seen gigantic jumps forward lately. Previously inaccessible beaches now boast beautifully paved roads complete with reflectors, painted lines and street lights; something old hands will remember didn’t exist on any roads some short years ago.

In addition, through numerous private stockholders Guanacaste has seen the expansion and creation of everything from Global American Faculties to private surgery hospitals, orthopedic centres, cosmetic surgery spas, and a variety of spas, mental health retreats, recovery centres, and more. The major private investment bucks flowing into major medical facilities in Liberia to the tune of almost half a bn. greenbacks has a ripple effect across Guanacaste as people follow the smart money into niche areas of the booming Medical Tourism industry. With accelerating debate and arching costs of Medicare in the U. S., the ever increasing wait times in the socialized arena of Canadian Medical care joined with the expansion of nonstop flights into the area from both countries, Medical Tourism in Guanacaste is poised for a boom, and the opening of the keenly anticipated CIMA branch in Liberia represents the first major walk in this direction.

. Internationally licensed medical therapy truly is the final piece of the puzzle for Guanacaste and defines a giant leap in the marketability of the area both as a Medical Travel and retirement destination but just as importantly as a true long term alternative life style choice for many American. Low crime gorgeous weather and now wonderful hospital therapy, quality commissioned education, and all the smashing things that have driven holiday makers here in droves is complemented by the development of the regions first Internationally commissioned surgery. Really the best is still to come.
