Costa Brava Tourism Guide
In Costa Brava, during summer time, there are many nice surprises and it’s definitely usual to come across lots of interesting festivals and events.
This rich bouquet of events is one of the main reasons to choose Costa Brava as a destination for your travel and it can be useful to look at the wide range of hotels available.
In June Night of the Musician is held, an event in Cassá in which all the musicians of typical ancient catalan instruments meet and put on an a traditional show. In July there’s the amazing fireworks competition.
This competition is seen as one of the most important all over the world, and a must see event. In Blanes, during the feast of Santa Anna, about 500 kilos of fireworks are launched toward the sky for a wonderful show. It lasts three nights and a jury pass judgement over the competition: they consider different standards such as colours, performance, sounds, the crowd’s response and decide which was the best display.
In July, an event of equal importance is the regatta of Llaguts and Lateen. During the regatta, local historical boats, called “llaguts”, are displayed out on the water, reconstructing journeys from past centuries.
During the month of August, it’s time to go to some of the beautiful lakes in Costa Brava or more specifically Lake Puigcerdá where a famous festival takes place. This event was started back in 1886 and was initially devoted to the city bourgeoisie, who used to spend summer holidays at the lake. Then you can move to the estanyol of Vilar for the historical fishing competition.
And at the end of the month, in the village of Tossa, there is the 12 hours Fast Painting Competition where talented artist capture the stunning scenery Costa Brava has to offer.
