Cool Ploy For Overcoming Writer’s Block
If you are running a business which entails writing, it is likely that you almost certainly are afflicted by the dreaded writer’s block occasionally. When this happens to me, in my internet marketing coaching business, I have discovered that the simplest way to start writing once more is to take myself out of the familiar setting and move on and work someplace else like a cafe or the library.
However, sometimes even that doesn’t work and I need something further to get me writing. So, I make motivation techniques into a fun game.
4th Shelf Down
The Objective:
To get over writer’s block and write a complete article regardless of how skillful or flawed I judge it to be.
The Location:
A public library, bookshop or the book-shelves in the home.
The Game:
Determine how long you’ll write for but don’t make it greater than 45 minutes.
Go to the bookcase where a number of your favourite books are housed and select the book that’s on the fourth bookshelf down and twenty books from the left. Regardless of what it is, use this as your inspiration for writing.
You may use the title as the inspiration or open to a arbitrary page and select a specific paragraph. If you choose to work with a paragraph choose which paragraph on which page, or even just select a page number and use the paragraph where your gaze initially falls. I prefer to keep it simple and just settle for the title. But the critical factor is to decide on what you will use prior to when you start and subsequently stick with it. Do not change your mind when you get to the book. Just read and begin writing.
It doesn’t need to make sense or even be about the theme you have just read. The objective is to simply begin writing and don’t stop until your allotted time is up. If you achieve that your creative juices will be flowing and you’ll be prepared to write “for real”.
I have written many excellent articles by doing this however that is a bonus. The most important goal is to recover from your block and begin writing.
