The Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington presents visitors with an exciting opportunity to view an outstanding collection of art. The Museum underwent a massive $30 million renovation and redesign that was completed in 2005. Several new features were added to the Museum including a huge Sculpture Park, a new Museum Cafe, and several significant and impressive new art works.
The Delaware Art Museum holds an intriguing collection of art which focuses on works by American artists. Highlights of their collection include works by Howard Pyle, his students and other illustrators, works by artist John Sloan, Pre-Raphaelite artwork, and American Art from the mid 18th century through the present day.
Seventeen gallery spaces on two spacious floors are used to showcase art at the Delaware Art Museum. The new 9-acre Sculpture Park exhibits works by a variety of renowned artists including Lin Emergy, Isaac Witkin, John Van Alstine and many others. Indoors, new works by artists Dale Chihuly and James Turrell have helped transform the Museum building itself into a work of art. Docent-led Museum tours for the public and private groups are available by schedule or special appointment.
