Charlottenburg Castle Berlin
Charlottenburg Castle is located in western Charlottenburg, in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district of Berlin. The castle belongs to the Institution of Prussian Castles and Gardens in Berlin and Branderburg.
The castle was built between 1695 and 1699 by architect Johann Arnold Nering on behalf of Sophie Charlotte, wife of Prince Frederick III. When his wife died, Frederick III changed its name to his wife’s name in her honour, hence the current name of the castle. As the years passed by the castle was extended and changed by each prince.
After the Second World War the castle was badly damaged. From 1945 it was once again renovated and nowadays it is used as a museum where we can see the room of Frederick the Great and pictures of him and of his wife. It has a lot of porcelain and pictures; here we find the largest collection of French paintings of the eighteenth century outside France. In the ancient theatre of the castle we can visit another museum, the Museum of Prehistory.
Surrounded by the “Garden Palace”, an incredible esplanade where the people of Berlin have always been able to walk, relax and enjoy a pleasant day. It is the ideal setting for a romantic stroll and is full of fantasy.
Upon arrival at your Apartamentos en Berlin you realize what a magnificent sight it is, how wonderful its location is as well its stunning gardens…… I would not mind at all being a member of royalty!
