Getting on the Biggest Loser has enabled dozens of people to dramatically alter the life they were living. They have lost hundreds of pounds in a short time period. Without all of the temptations around them, the people on the show are able to focus on diet and exercise. The program does make them drop the pounds. Some of the larger contestants are able to lose over ten pounds a week by following the diet and exercise program that the trainers set up for them. Some of the people on the show have dropped more than half of their weight while they were on it.

The reason that people lose as much as they do is due to the intense training regimen that is followed. The trainers do not just go out and buy a six pack ab exercises video for the contestants to use; they have a gym that has all the necessary equipment to help people who are seriously overweight including some equipment that is specially designed to be less stressful on a person’s body. They have a fitness program that includes traditional training programs involving gym equipment, but also have exercises that let them use the surrounding countryside. By using a variety of training regimens, the people on the show and their coaches are able to employ a lot of different methods.

Besides having the contestants workout on a daily basis the show also helps teach the contestants how to live a healthier lifestyle. Every week the contestants have some type of competition that makes them face something that they will face when they are no longer on the show. During these competitions, the people are offered inducements that could allow them a longer stay on the show, but also show them things that will help them when they are back home. The show is about entertainment and there is one person in the show who wins the grand prize, but all the people who participate in the show are winners. The things they learn while on the show help them enjoy a much better lifestyle. The contestants are able to get fit and healthy even if they failed do that before they got on the show.
