There’s a an extensive variety of parks in Barcelona and you can also experience the shocking architectural wonder of the town. The parks and gardens are definitely a very good place to relax as they’ve been created in a way that they look magnificently natural. The pools, ponds, varied species of birds and animals make these parks a good destination for family picnic.

Parc Guell
Likely the most famed park in Barcelona is Parc Guell. Park Guell in Barcelona was made by Gaudi – Spain’s famous maveric artist and architect. The Parc Guell area has recently been marked by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is without doubt Gaudi’s most colorful and off beat creation.
within Parc Guell the most original area is the Room of 100 Columns – a massive hall with crooked pillars supporting the roof. There are 80 four pillars in all and the room glints with pieces of cut glass and coloured mosaics.

Parc Central Poble Nou
Also called Parc Central del Poble Nou in Spanish language, this is considered to be one of the youngest parks of Barcelona. The park designed by Jean Nouvel of France was opened for public in 2007. This triangle shaped park shot into fame in this short period of time. Many sort of flora are still to find their place in this park and work in this regard is still going on. The park is located at the confluence of three main roads in Barcelona ; the park also has a basketball court, table tennis area and children’s park.

Barcelonas mountains : Montjuic and Collserola
Muntanya de Montjuic is a three hundred yearold park and is reasonably favored among the locals of the area. The park also has the striking Castell de Montjuic. If you want to visit a slightly bigger park then Parc de collserola is the location for you. It is spread over more than eight thousand acres and is one of the largest parks in all of the Europe, not to mention Spain. The park is good for walking and cycling with your family and friends.

Parc del Laberint d’Horta
This 17 acre park really warrants a short journey from town. It’s a fairytale park with its pretty walkways, canal, romantic gardens, cascade and obviously, the maze which children will love. Entrance fee 1,90 EU$

Parc de la Ciutadella
This 75 acre park in the centre of Barcelona was made for the purpose of nature, recreation and culture, and is a handy place to spend an afternoon, with lots to see and do.
The landscaped gardens are home to the Barcelona town zoo, the Catalonia Parliament and the museums of zoology, natural history and modern art. There’s also a cruising lake and enormous decorative fountain. It occupies the site of an old military fortress, a star-shaped ciutadella, built by Philip V in 1716 to defend the town.
