Acne Diet Development 101
An acne diet is certainly an appealing idea. We’ve all heard that chocolate gives you pimples. Everybody has. As a result, it does not seem so far-fetched that what you eat could prevent acne instead of cause it.
However, an acne diet can be hard to create for a large number of people. Its very personal because it has to be based on an individuals responses to food. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Watch your skin carefully. Keep a journal. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. If and when your acne diminishes stick to the diet plan you are on at the time.
Here are some guidelines to get you started on an acne diet:
* Eat more protein - Many dermatologists are under the belief that protein is connected with clearer skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. If you have oily skin, you know that it is very vulnerable to breakouts.
* Keep away from carbohydrates - Its not necessary to cut out all carbohydrates. But you do need to limit them so that they are only about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why junk food has a reputation for causing acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.
* Try to drink green tea - Drinking the real stuff is the best. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Breakouts have been known to be caused by a hormone called androgen.
* Limit your total intake of salt - Salt most always contains iodine. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” For some people with acne, iodine can be a major inflammatory agent.
It is very important to watch what you eat and put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. These being the least likely to aggravate your skin. If you wear makeup, then consider investing in mineral makeup. By using mineral makeup you may actually ease acne problems and increase the results of your acne diet.
